Last night saw the annual Shield performances, where our 6th form group write and direct their own plays on this years theme of reconciliation.
This years Liz Goodbody Shield winner was Jade Sweatman for her play ‘Conscious’ a moving piece of theatre exploring the relationship between a mother and son, and how it impacts on the family life, when it all goes wrong.
In addition to the Shield the groups have the chance to win the Angela Sturgess Trophy. This was won by Charlotte Remnant for her piece ‘The Art of Reconciliation’ a humorous piece set in the National Art Gallery’s new exhibition.

Congratulations and thank you to all of the directors and teams for a most entertaining evening.
Thanks also to our guest Shield judges for the evening, the writer Greg Mosse and stage director Roger Redfarn, who had the hard task of judging the 8 performances alongside our own Artistic Director Andrew Bowker. The Shield is judged a strict set of criteria which cover not only the performance but the groups whole approach.
Thanks also to the Angela Sturgess judges made up of the committee and guest judges for choosing their most entertaining piece.
